Latonja S. Walker

Mrs. Walker is a native Chester, SC and graduate of Lewisville High School in Richburg, SC. She enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1994 to 1995.  She was employed with the SC Dept. of Corrections for approximately six years as a Correctional Officer at Catawba Pre-Release Center and Stevenson Correctional Institution. In 1999 she was promoted to Sergeant for the Women's Shock Incarceration Unit at the Women's Correctional Center.

 

In January 2000- 2006 she was employed with the Federal Bureau of Prisons - FCI Edgefield as a Senior Officer. During that time she received her Degree in Culinary Arts in Augusta, GA. After graduations in 2003 she received a position in the Food Service Dept. at FCI Edgefield as a Cook Supervisor.

 

In 2008 Mrs. Walker returned home to work with the York County Sheriff Dept. as a Detention Officer and Classification Specialist. In 2011 she was promoted to Master Sergeant of Booking/Unit Officers.

 

In November 2013 Mrs. Walker was offered a position with the SC Dept. of Corrections Kirkland-R&E as a Shift Sergeant in the Housing Units, Lockup Units and Gilliam Psychiatric Unit which during that time received Crisis Intervention Training. In August 2015 Mrs. Walker returned to the Federal Bureau of Prisons-FCI Bennettsville, Food Service Dept.

 

Currently Mrs. Walker serves as a Board Member with the South Carolina Chapter of NABCJ as well as the ACA, SCCA, CPO Associations and SC-AVP (Alternative to Violence Project) Facilitator. Mrs. Walker has 23 years of Correctional Service. She has served in all three entities of Corrections (County, State and Federal) as well as appearing on A&E "Beyond Scared Straight" as a Volunteer Officer with the Chester County Sheriff Dept.
